PROJECT WORK
HYDROLOGY & HYDRAULICS
Cape Broyle / Horsechops Dam Safety Review & Flood Study, Newfoundland Power
Meco completed a Dam Safety Review and flood study for the Cape Broyle / Horsechops Hydroelectric Development.
The development consists of more than thirty dams including earthfill embankments, rockfill dams, reinforced concrete spillways, and gravity structures.
The work included:
- Consequence classification assessments.
- Inflow hydrology and hydraulic analyses.
- Flood routing and freeboard assessments.
- Dam break modelling and inundation mapping.
- Site inspections and condition assessments.
- Stability evaluations and spillway capacity reviews.
- Preparation of HEC-RAS models and emergency planning mapping.
This project demonstrates Meco’s expertise in large-scale dam safety reviews, hydrologic studies, and flood inundation modelling for hydroelectric developments.
Sandy Lake Hydroelectric Development Dam Safety Review, Newfoundland Power
Meco completed a Dam Safety Review and flood study for Newfoundland Power’s Sandy Lake Hydroelectric Development.
The development consists of nine dams including earthfill embankments, rockfill dams, reinforced concrete spillways, and gravity structures.
The work included:
- Consequence classification assessments.
- Inflow hydrology and hydraulic analyses.
- Flood routing and freeboard evaluations.
- Dam break modelling and inundation mapping.
- Site inspections and topographic surveys.
- Stability assessments and spillway capacity reviews.
- Preparation of a comprehensive Dam Safety Review report.
This project demonstrates Meco’s expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, dam breach modelling, and flood risk evaluation for hydroelectric facilities.
